Woolley Mat Dog,
13 x 25, this is just a super color combination. Annette Allessio, Fairmont,
West Virginia, hooked this delightful rug. Please take a look at Annette's
background. She had a great teal plaid which we used -- it just sort of
"melts" around and has created a GREAT background. I love the teal dog
also.
Woolley Mat Dog, second above, was hooked by Dea Olson of
Topeka, Kansas. This is the first time I have seen this mat hooked this way. I love the
OLD look to the rug. Thanks Dea!
The third Woolley Mat Dog was hooked by Kay Moring of
Dallas, Texas. Kay's dog was hooked from one piece of striped wool which make it look as
if it is a red "hit n miss." Very fun to do.
Jean Meador hooked this WM Dog, 13 x 25, at the Star of Texas,
Fredericksburg school. The spark of white in the circle - keep the rug in perfect
balance and her background is wonderful
Woolley
Mat Hat, 25 x 13, hooked by my great friend Jayne Hester, Kinderhook, New
York. The rug looks so old. The use of the beige small plaid instead of a white
in the stripe helps create this look. The hit 'n' miss in the corners is super too.
The second Woolley Mat Hat was hooked by Rebecca Caldwood of
Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. This was Rebecca's first rug. She had a lot of fun with
this little mat. Says "red, white and blue" and is very happy.
Christine Wolf of Pennsylvania hooked the third Woolley Mat Hat, 25 x 13.
Christine's "hat mat" is lots of fun - her star and corners just
frame it perfectly.
Rita Ozment of Coatesville, Indiana, hooked the fourth Woolley Mat Hat.
Love the "hit n miss" corners. Rita's background is fabulous also.
Cindy Wagner of Dellroy, Ohio, hooked the fifth Woolley Mat Hat, 25 X 13.
Definitely a celebration of Uncle Sam and everything red, white and blue.
Doesn't need to be bright to be fun.
Beth Anne Smiley of Davenport, Iowa, hooked the sixth Woolley Mat Hat, 25 X 13.
Love the way Beth Anne used the "white" in her corners - a very
neat "spark up". The bright red is good also.
Woolley Mat Horse, 25 x
13, part of the Woolley Mat Series that is shown in my new book Secrets
of Primitive Hooked Rugs. I had a lot of fun with this rug. A small
treasure to hook as a gift for a friend or for yourself. All of the other patterns
shown in the book are available also. Thanks to Rug Hooking Magazine for inviting me to be
part of this series.
The second Woolley Mat Horse was hooked by Martha
Reynolds of Dallas, Texas. Martha was in my "Horse of a Different Color"
workshop at the Shelburne. A fun class and everyone was able to hook the horse their
way. Martha carried the horse color out to the border, which is a super
touch. Thanks to Martha for being in the class and to Diane Phillips for inviting me
to teach.
Gloria Ault, Shelby, Ohio, hooked the third rug for her daughter. Gloria
hooked this at the Woolley Fox during a mini workshop. Her daughter chose most of the
wools which makes it special for her. I love the hit 'n' miss circle in the reds.
Kathy Wright of Lexington, Kentucky, was also in my Shelburne class,
"Horse of a Different Color." I love her blue horse and red stars. This rug
is fun any way you hook it. Watch my schedule for an exciting show and workshop
"Sheep of Many Coats" that will be happening in Columbus in November.
Michele Christian, Kettering, Ohio, hooked this Woolley Mat Horse on the
left and "HOORAY" for her hooking a purple horse! The gold stars are very
sparky.
Norma Batastini, Glen Ridge, New Jersey, hooked this version of the Woolley
Mat Horse second from left at my fun, fun mini class at the
Shelburne last year. (Again, thanks for inviting me.) She took this one step
further by creating her own border. She ran out of some of the wools, so she pulled in
others, bringing her own personality to this little rug.
The third Woolley Mat Horse was hooked by Carol Collins,
Goode, Virginia. Very simple, folky and good.
The fourth was hooked by Julie Thornton, Shelby, Ohio. Her corners
are NEAT and I love the squiggles in her background.
The Woolley Mat Horse, 13
x 25, on the left was hooked by Barbara Lowe of Rector, Pennsylvania. This was
Barbara's first rug. She is having a wonderful time and do you not just love her
background? Nice spirit there.
Darlene Buckner of Poulsbo, Washington, hooked the second Woolley
Mat Horse. Her stars and corners frame the horse very well. A happy rug.
The third Woolley Mat Horse was hooked by Mercedes Hnizdo
of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This rug is quiet and restful. The color palette
Mercedes used is great. Not many changes -- very well placed.
The fourth Woolley Mat Horse was hooked by Sharon Reilly,
Springhill, TN. A pink horse - hooray. And look at Sharon's background - the
softness of the horse allow her to use this wonderful textured background.
Woolley
Mat Sheep, 13 x 25. Betty Bennett, Ligonier, Pennsylvania, hooked the rug on the
left. Betty hooked this rug from a friend's wool. So between her memory of her
friend and her love of sheep this is a fun rug for Betty. I love the sparkly stars.
Michele Christian, Kettering, Ohio, hooked the Woolley Mat
Sheep in the middle in my class in Columbus, Ohio. "The
sheep of many coats." I had a great time and a very big THANK YOU to Kathy Wright of
From Our Hands for inviting me. I love the quiet stars and the way the red line sort of
outlines the irregular shape of the background.
Shari Bennett, Corbin, Kentucky, hooked the Woolley Mat Sheep on
the right. Bright, fun and happy. And we all know I love the purple stars!
Woolley Mat Sheep, 13
x 25, hooked by Keith Kemmer, Waterford, Michigan. Keith
hooked this at a class in Columbus, Ohio. Just fun, and you can use lots of your
leftover wools to have fun with this.
The second Woolley Mat Sheep was hooked by Julie
Thornton, Shelby, Ohio. I love purple, so this is a fun rug for me to see. Notice how
her corners soften the purple and anchor the rug.
The third Woolley Mat Sheep was hooked by Carol Rahall of
Mansfield, Ohio. The deepness of Carol's background and border sets off the corners so
that they dance around the rug.
Woolley Mat
Sheep, 13 x 25, was hooked by Rose Hough. A delightful rug. Rose's corners are
fun and whimsical.
A super fun pillow hooked by Donna Hopkins, Kentucky. I LOVE black sheep!
