ATHA Biennial - October 19-21, 2011

We will be keeping you updated on some of the "hook-in's" and fund raisers for the ATHA Biennial - new information will be added as we receive it.  And yes, Barb will be teaching.  If you have never attended a Biennial before this is surely the time to do so.  There will be so much for everyone to see, do and learn.  Just lots of fun.

On the 30th of October, 2010 the Brandywine Chapter of ATHA will be hosting a "Hook - In" which will benefit the Biennial.   Terry Dorr of Dorr Mill Store will be the Guest Speaker.  Among the auction items will be rare paisley pieces from the PAISLEY QUEEN Cynthia Norwood and luscious dyed wool from Gail Dufresne.  For more information on the fun "hook-in" visit the Brandywine web site at  http://brandywinerughookingguild.weebly.com/

Also for more information on the Biennial you may contact Cynthia Norwood at canorw@aol.com  or Gail Dufresne at gailduf@aol.com

To join ATHA email Joan Cahill at jcahill29@aol.com  For further information visit the ATHA website http://www.atharugs.com/

LAUREL MOUNTAINS RUG HOOKING SCHOOL in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, May 1 - 5, 2011. This is a very fun and cozy rug school. The teachers are Jayne Hester, Nancy Blood, Susan Feller, and me, Barb Carroll. Jayne is a master at neutrals, softs and also color. Nancy is one of the best fine rug hooking teachers in the country, while Susan is an expert on frakturs and how to translate them to rug hooking. (The rug shown below was hooked by Grace Hostetter at one of Susan's classes.) She brings many templates to help you to design your own fraktur. She also has many books on the frakturs so you can learn all about this wonderful art. Susan and her husband have also written a dye book for the frakturs. Me - big time texture personage, who loves color, primitives, recreating the antique look in rugs, learning and fun. Contact Shirley Engel to enroll in the school (724) 776-5791 or by email shirlet@zoominternet.net. Accommodations are at the Ramada Inn (724) 238-9545, which is where the classes are held. You will love Ligonier and all of the "happy hookers"!
